Dear friends, I just wanted to clear a few things up in case people had questions regarding my last photograph. My series Breathe. is about living with mental illness, namely anxiety and depression. Severe anxiety disorder is something I have struggled with my entire life, and this series is a way for me to vocalize the legitimacy and severity of something that most people with mental illness feel uncomfortable admitting to others.
Out of context and without an artist statement I can see how violence against women could be interpreted, but please rest assured that is not my intention with this piece whatsoever. As a woman myself, it would give me great sorrow to have any of my work interpreted that way. This series is intended to give viewers an idea of what it’s like to have a panic attack, and hopefully some insight into how debilitating living with an anxiety/depression disorder can be.
Thank you! I am incredibly fortunate to be able to work with some amazing, inspiring people.
Thank you! Being young isn’t bad—all the more time to practice before life gets in the way. Best of luck to you in your photo endeavors as well! :-)
Find what you love and let it kill you.
Let it drain you of your all. Let it cling onto your back and weigh you down into eventual nothingness.
Let it kill you and let it devour your remains.
For all things will kill you, both slowly and fastly, but it’s much better to be killed by a lover.
